Check your phone works with eSIM
You need a phone that supports eSIM and isn't locked to a carrier.
DataRoamer can't check your phone's eSIM support or carrier lock for you. Please check both before you buy.
How to check on iPhone
- Open Settings and tap Cellular (or Mobile Data).
- If you see Add eSIM, your iPhone supports eSIM.
- To check the carrier lock, open Settings → General → About. If Carrier Lock shows No SIM restrictions, your iPhone is unlocked.
How to check on Android
Menu names vary by phone maker. These steps match Google Pixel phones.
- Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
- If you see Add SIM and an option to set up an eSIM, your phone supports eSIM.
- Android has no standard carrier-lock setting. If you bought your phone from a carrier or on a contract, ask that carrier whether it's unlocked.
What is a carrier lock?
Some phones sold by a mobile carrier only work with that carrier until the carrier unlocks them. A locked phone usually can't use an eSIM from another provider, including DataRoamer.
How to check with your carrier
Contact the carrier that sold you the phone and ask if it's unlocked. Only that carrier can unlock it.
